How to Use the French Word Drôle

The French word drôle, pronounced "drol," is an adjective that means "funny" or "peculiar." 

Examples

  • J'ai regardé un film drôle hier soir - I watched a funny movie last night
  • C'est drôle, je ne reconnais pas ces livres sur mon étagère - That's funny, I don't recognize these books on my shelf.
  • drôle de - strange
  • Il a un drôle d'air - He looks strange
  • C'est une drôle d'idée - That's a peculiar idea.
