L'aura de Laura

Tuesday July 15, 2008
Bonjour mes amis !

Likewise! I watched a direct transmission from the Champs Elysee and thought it was stirring, spectacular … I could use lots of adjectives none of which would be ‘interesting’. Interesting is a word I use when I am trying to circumvent what I really want to say, is that the case for you? thanks for the great site!

Sorry about that - it’s there now.

Linda: no, I use “interesting” when I mean interesting. I’ve no doubt the celebration in Paris was spectacular, but here in Hyères it was just plain old interesting. :-)

Laura - your post makes me hungry! Just read in NYT today that the hamburger is tres chic in Paris. Here’s my favorite quote from the article: “It has the taste of the forbidden, the illicit — the subversive, even,” said Hélène Samuel, a restaurant consultant here. “Eating with your hands, it’s pure regression. Naturally, everyone wants it.”

So French!

Laura,

Your lesson on when to use the subjunctive with vouloir and other verbs -
