Another activity for si clauses
- I created a large 2-column table on an 8.5x11 sheet. (about 10 rows) I erased the line that divides the two columns and instead, I created interesting lines to create interlocking puzzle pieces. On each puzzle piece, I wrote an infinitive. I cut up the puzzle pieces, distributed them to students and had them circulate to find their partner. Once they had the two verbs together, they had to invent a sentence using "si+imparfait / conditionnel". This got them moving around, talking and working together to create a grammatically correct sentence.

Great activity that engages students
- I actually tried this activity with a Grade 9 French Immersion class here in Canada a few weeks ago. They just loved it! It works very well. I gave them exactly 10 minutes (I used online-stopwatch.com and projected it onto a screen). I made it into a game and told them that the group with the greatest number of correct sentences at the end of the ten minutes would get a prize. I gave each group an overhead transparency and an overhead marker to write their sentences. That way, I put them onto the overhead and corrected them on the spot. I allotted 2 points for each correct sentence and took off one point for each error. I then had a student add up the points while I did the next group. It took up quite a bit of time, so I'll have to think about how to do the correcting more quickly next time.
