Célébration - RDV Français Houston
- How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world.” - Anne Frank For my wife and I, being of service to others simply means making the world a better place, even if it’s just for one person. What better way for us to make others happy than to organize social events and activities around our shared love of French language and culture? Helping others make new friends is invaluable. And it’s also a great way to network, and broaden your connections. For this reason we created a local Houston, Texas Francophone group named the RDV Français (http://www.meetup.com/RDV-FRANCAIS) providing us the opportunity to create events focusing on French culture. French is always spoken. Our membership continues to grow daily as we welcome both native French speakers and other nationalities who share a love for the beautiful French language and culture. It's been a win-win situation for all of us. Everyone should consider forming their own local group.

Bastille Day In Mauritius
- I was in Mauritius on Bastille Day 2008 and as one of my friends there is a Frenchman and an excellent chef he is very good friends with the the French Ambassador and his staff at the French Embassy we were invited to to official Embassy celebrations. We were treated to fine wine fine food and great company. However the highlight for me was towards the end of the night when I said to my friend that I might "borrow" one of the ceromonial flags............to my surprise one of the French consuls heard me and within in minutes he had gone and cut down one of the flags and presented it to me. I wore the flag around my meck for the rest of the evening and it is now proudly displayed on my wall at home back in Australia, I visit Mauritus on a regular basis and on each trip I not only improve my French but also my creole.

Bastille Day 2010
- I made quiche, strawberries with fresh whipped cream, fruit tarts, éclairs, and many other foods as well. It was a large party. I also made a red velvet cake with cream cheese icing. I researched Marie Antionette's official monogram, which is, of course, an A intertwined with an M. I reproduced this on the cake with red decorator icing. I also had a 6" tall Marie Antoinette doll on the cake. About half-way through the party, I called everyone's attention to the cake, at which time I pressed a button on the dolls neck and the head popped off! This was a big hit with my guests.
