- Click edit in the menubar
- Click Special characters
- Select Roman from the View pulldown menu
- Select the Accented Latin character palette
- Keep the palette open for use in any application
- Place your cursor at the point in the document where you want an accented character
- Click the desired accented character in the palette
- Click Insert at the bottom of the palette
