Definition: coaching, personal training, private classes
Un peu plus de coaching ne ferait pas de mal à cette équipe - This team could use a little more coaching
Tous les meilleurs joueurs profitent de coaching - All the best players have personal trainers
Si tu veux réussir à ton cours de maths, tu auras besoin de coaching - If you want to pass your math class, you'll need some private classes
Notes: It took me a while to realize that the French meaning of coaching is so much broader than the English meaning, which is pretty much limited to team sports. When I asked a friend why he didn't just say entraînement, he described a highly customized system of personal improvement and I finally got it. Le coaching covers the full spectrum from individual to team training, from personal and athletic to academic and professional improvement.
Though you will hear coaching in France (and possibly other French-speaking countries), it is not a French word: it's franglais, which automatically makes it informal. Use with caution, if at all.
Official French equivalents: coaching - entraînement; personal training - le mentorat; private classes - les cours particuliers
