How to Use Raser in the Past Tense

The most common way to use a verb in the past tense is to use the passé composé. This compound tense requires an auxiliary verb and a past participle to form the conjugation. Raser requires the auxiliary verb avoir and the past participle rasé. However, when using the reflexive se raser, the auxiliary verb is être (all reflexive verbs use être when forming the passé composé).

For example:

L'infirmière lui a rasé.
The nurse shaved him.

Il s'est rasé avant le diner.
He shaved before dinner.
