Simple Past - Passé simple - French Grammar + Pronunciation Glossary

Definition: A simple French verb tense which indicates completed actions. It is the literary equivalent of the passé composé.

Examples:

Je vis Luc.
I saw Luc.

Il ne vint pas à Paris.
He didn't come to Paris.

Also known as: past historic, prétérit, preterite, simple past

Misspellings: passe simple, passée simple, passee simple
