Si Clause - Proposition conditionnelle - French Grammar + Pronunciation Glossary

Definition: A common French verbal structure that names a condition that must be met in order for an action to occur. The conditional mood is often used in si clauses, which have strict rules for the verb forms that may be used. The conditional clause is in italics in the following examples.

Examples:

Si je vois Luc, je lui parlerai.
If I see Luc, I'll talk to him.

S'il avait de l'argent, il viendrait.
If he had money, he would come.
