Conditional Perfect - Conditionnel passé - French Grammar Glossary

Definition: A compound tense used mainly in si clauses that describes an action that would have occurred in the past if circumstances had been different.

Formation: Conditional auxiliary verb + past participle

Examples:

J'aurais mangé si j'avais eu de l'argent.
I would have eaten if I'd had some money.

Il serait venu à Paris si tu l'avais demandé.
He would have come to Paris if you had asked him.

Also known as: past conditional
