Agreement - Accord - French Grammar + Pronunciation Glossary

By Laura K. Lawless, About.com

Definition: Agreement refers to the correspondence of gender, number, and/or person. All French nouns have a gender and a number, with which the adjectives, articles, and verbs that modify them must agree. In addition, many pronouns have to agree with the grammatical person they represent.

Agreement:

L'homme est grand. / La femme est grande.
The man is tall. / The woman is tall.

J'ai un stylo bleu. / J'ai deux stylos bleus.
I have a blue pen. / I have two blue pens.
