French Translations of Canadian Provinces and Territories
How do you say the Canadian provinces and territories states in French?

Geography vocabulary:

Canadian provinces   US states   Gender Quiz

Countries

Here are the 13 Canadian provinces and territories as said in French. The six listed in italics are feminine.

Alberta Alberta
British Columbia Colombie britannique
Manitoba Manitoba
New Brunswick Nouveau-Brunswick
Newfoundland and Labrador Terre-Neuve et Labrador
Northwest Territories (territoires du) Nord-Ouest
Nova Scotia Nouvelle-Écosse
Nunavut Nunavut
Ontario Ontario
Prince Edward Island l'île du Prince-Édouard
Quebec Québec
Saskatchewan Saskatchewan*
Yukon Territory (territoire du) Yukon

*There seems to be a bit of confusion about the gender of Saskatchewan. My dictionaries and many websites say it's masculine, but the Fransaskois (French-speaking inhabitants of Saskatchewan) say that it's feminine, and I tend to think that they have the final say. If you have questions or comments, please post them on the forum.
