Je me suis dit que mon enfance se terminait. C'est vraiment ça, quoi. C'est vraiment un personnage de mon enfance et ça faisait comme si ma jeunesse se terminait, une partie de ma vie en fait. Ça fait partie de ces personnages qui ont accompagné ma jeunesse et qui me semblaient immuables et puis on s'aperçoit que en fait, non, ils meurent aussi. |

Après on apprend des petites histoires tordues. On en apprend un peu plus sur l'histoire Bousquet. On en apprend un peu plus sur la façon dont il a magouillé pour réussir à prendre le pouvoir, pour amener son impact, ses batailles avec Rocard,* comment il réussit à tuer, entre guillemets, Rocard. Bon, tout ça fait que l'image du personnage quand même en prend un petit coup dans la figure, hein. Mais, globalement parlant, ça change rien. | Pour moi, Mitterrand, c'est l'image de l'homme politique de l'intellectuel, de l'humaniste qui a su faire de la politique une chose qui était au-dessus de la mêlée, quelque chose de noble. | For me Mitterrand is the image of the political man, the intellectual, the humanist who knew how to turn politics into something out of the ordinary, something noble. |
| Il a quand même un côté mythique parce que j'ai pas l'impression qu'on ait retrouvé un personnage comme ça dans la vie politique française. Il y avait des côtés obscurs. Il était assez ambigu mais pour moi c'était vraiment un personnage à part. C'est plutôt un personnage du passé. Il a un côté très français dans toute cette image-là, ce rapport à la culture, cette espèce de côté un peu monarchique, en fait. Voilà, parce qu'il pouvait être assez odieux et cassant. C'est pas quelque chose qu'on a encore vraiment retrouvé, j'ai l'impression, donc il y a vraiment un côté un peu mythique. Après, il y a ce personnage un peu de mon environnement, un peu comme Jean Paul II, quoi. Ce sont des créatures, ouais, des choses qui paraissaient presque immuables, quoi. Alors que bon, François Mitterrand ça représente quatorze ans de ma vie comme président. C'est moins de la moitié puisque j'ai trente-et-un ans, donc, oui, ce sont peut-être des mythes ou des icônes, en fait. | Despite everything there's a mythical side to him because I don't think there's been anyone like him in French political life.
