Voyage à Chamonix
Nous nous sommes réveillés après une bonne nuit à Montreux. Nous avions bu quatre bouteilles de vin la nuit avant, mais miraculeusement nous nous sentions bien. Nous avons pris notre petit déjeuner sur la terrasse de l'hôtel Montreux Palace. Il faisait très beau. La terrasse donnait sur le lac Léman. J'ai mangé des œufs au plat, du yaourt, du pain et du fromage. Après avoir fini notre petit déjeuner nous sommes partis de l'hôtel à pied avec nos gros sacs à dos en direction de la gare de Montreux. |
Trip to Chamonix We woke up after a good night in Montreux. We had drunk four bottles of wine the night before, but miraculously we felt good. We had breakfast on the terrace of the hotel Montreux Palace. The weather was very nice. The terrace overlooked Lake Geneva. I ate fried eggs, yogurt, bread, and cheese. After finishing our breakfast we left the hotel on foot with our large backpacks in the direction of the Montreux train station. |
| Après une petite marche, nous sommes arrivés à la gare. Nous avons attendus le train pour Martigny pendant vingt minutes. Quand il est arrivé, nous sommes montés dans le train. En Suisse le train est un moyen de transport très populaire. Il y a beaucoup de gens qui vont au travail en train. Nous sommes descendus à la gare de Martigny. | After a short walk, we arrived at the train station. We waited for the train to Martigny for twenty minutes. When it arrived we got on the train. In Switzerland, the train is a very popular means of transportation. There are many people who go to work by train. We got off the train at the Martigny train station. |
| Nous avons attendus le train pour Vallorcine et puis pour Chamonix. Quand le train est arrivé nous avons vu que toutes les voitures avaient été réservées pour un groupe de touristes allemands. Je n'ai pas voulu attendre un autre train. J'ai dit à mon frère « Monte dans le train ! » et nous sommes montés. Nous n'avons pas pris de siège. Nous nous sommes assis sur un rebord à l'arrière du train. La guide du groupe de touristes allemands a parlé des lieux pendant le voyage. Après un peu de temps les touristes ont réalisé que nous ne faisions pas partie de leur groupe. Ils ont ri et ont commencé à prendre notre photo. Ils sont descendus au Châtelard où ils pouvaient acheter des chocolats. Nous avons changé de train à Vallorcine. Quand le train est arrivé aux Praz de Chamonix nous sommes descendus et nous avons marché en direction de l'hôtel Eden. Il est situé près de la gare. | We waited for the train to Vallorcine and then for Chamonix. When the train arrived we saw that all of the cars had been reserved for a group of German tourists. I did not want to wait for another train. I told my brother "Get on the train!" and we got on. We did not take a seat. We sat on a ledge at the rear of the train. The tour guide for the German tourists spoke about the places during the trip. After a short time the tourists realized that we were not part of their group. They laughed and began to take our photo. They got off at Le Châtelard where they could buy chocolates. We changed trains in Vallorcine. When the train arrived at Les Praz de Chamonix we got off and we walked to the Hotel Eden. It is located near the train station. |
| Pendant l'après-midi nous avons marché en direction de Chamonix. Après une marche de quarante minutes nous sommes arrivés à Chamonix. Nous avons décidé de déjeuner dans un restaurant du centre ville. J'ai pris un bon steak tartare et mon frère a pris une cuisse de lapin. Nous avons bu des bières. | During the afternoon we walked to Chamonix. After a forty minute walk we arrived in Chamonix. We decided to have lunch at a restaurant in the city center. I had a good steak tartare and my brother had a leg of rabbit. We drank beers. |
| Puis, nous sommes rentrés à pied à l'hôtel Eden. Quand nous sommes arrivés nous avons vu une amie qui travaille dans l'hôtel comme serveuse. Elle s'appelle « Laura ». Nous avons pris des bières et nous avons papoté. | Then we returned on foot to the Hotel Eden. When we arrived we saw a friend that works at the hotel as a waitress. Her name is Laura. We had some beers and chatted. |
| Ce soir-là nous sommes allés au restaurant la Cabane des Praz pour dîner. Ce n'était pas loin de notre hôtel. Nous avons bu une très bonne bouteille de vin. C'était un vin français qui s'appelle « La Turque ». C'est un vin de Guigal. Nous avions voulu un vin de Guigal qui s'appelle « La Mouline » mais le restaurant n'en avait plus. Cependant nous avons beaucoup aimé notre choix. Pour le dîner j'ai pris du bifteck et mon frère a pris de l'agneau. Nous avons commencé avec un carpaccio de bœuf. | That evening we went to the restaurant La Cabane des Praz for dinner. It was not far from our hotel. We drank a very good bottle of wine. It was a French wine that is called "La Turque." It is a wine from Guigal. We had wanted a wine from Guigal called "La Mouline" but the restaurant did not have any more. Nevertheless we liked our choice a lot. For dinner I had a steak and my brother had lamb. We started with a beef carpaccio. |
| Quand nous sommes retournés à l'hôtel Eden nous sommes allés au bar et nous avons commandé une autre bouteille de vin. Nous avons choisi un vin de Sauternes. J'étais fatigué par toute la marche (et peut-être aussi un peu à cause du vin). Nous sommes allés nous coucher tôt. | When we returned to the Hotel Eden we went into the bar and we ordered another bottle of wine. We chose a wine from Sauternes. I was tired from all of the walking (and perhaps a little because of the wine). We went to bed early. |
