Obviously I can't list every profession in the world, but here are some common ones. :-)

Be careful: many French professions have only a masculine form. Despite my gender, I have to say that I am "un" professeur.*

Note: In France, asking about what someone does for a living is considered a personal question. If you have to ask, be sure to preface your question with si ce n'est pas indiscret.
