I have a funny story about this.

Last summer, I was alone by a lake, minding my own business when a French guy came along and starting chatting me up. Amongst his small talk, he asked me if I was going swimming (all this in French). I replied ‘Je vais’ – meaning, I thought, I’m going to, later.

I was very unnerved by his response. He didn’t say anything, and kept looking at me.

It was a very long afterwards that I discovered that he was probably just waiting for me to complete the sentence… :0)

. . . . . . . . . .

That is funny – thanks for sharing! :-)
