So next time I see a repeat of ‘Seinfeld’ and Kramer says “Giddyup” I shall be reminded of the French phrase ‘et patati et patata’ !! It’s not often that such translations flow from the French to the English, I assume??

Superb! Much better than “etcetera, etcetera” which I throw in whenever I run out of vocabulary. Now I just have to throw in the odd “alors”… “donc”… “et bien”… (etcetera) to begin to sound a bit French.

Chapeau!! Il faut bien que tous ceux qui étudient quelque langue que ce soit apprennent les expressions qui font partie de la langue de tous les jours (et je ne veux pas dire les jurons!).

“et blablabla” (to short an endless story) is not the same as “et patati et patata” (the same for a list of things) are not the same.
Synonym to “et patati et patata” would be for example “et tout et tout”, or “tout ca tout ca”.
