Expression euphémisme, humour, pour dire très bien, beaucoup, formidable,épatant etc…
J’ai beaucoup de travail,peut se dire,j’ai pas mal de travail
ça va,la santé ?Pas mal merci!
Mais aussi dans un sens minorant: ça va la santé ? Oui,pas mal,enfin pas trop mal,ça pourrait aller mieux,je suis un peu fatigué !
Enfin,faut pas trop se plaindre,hein !
Peut-être employé de façon ou valorisante,ou péjorative:
ça va,le travail ? Pas mal ! on n’a pas à se plaindre !ça marche !
C’était bien le spectacle ? Pas mal ! On s’est bien amusé !
C’est toi qui a fait ce dessin ?C’est pas mal ! tu fais des progrès !
Mais,au contraire :
Il te plait mon dessin ?
Ouais ! euh …Pas mal,quoi !si on veut !mais tu as encore des progrès à faire !
(ça pourrait être pire,mais ça pourrait être mieux! enfin,c’est pas terrible, it’s not great !
