I read today’s expression, à poil, out loud just as my french boyfriend was about to get out on the roof and clean les goutieres – he was very surprised!!

I said to a French friend <> and she laughed for the better part tof the lunch break…I ruched to the lesson to see what I had done wrong and discovered that had to say <> well it is tough learning French, being a Swazi, and at the age of 35…..

if I am not mistaken, there is also the expression – pour un poil meaning almost or for just a little bit more. ex. Il n’a pas marque un but pour un poil.

Hello, je suis un francais nee en france, qui a grandi en france mais qui est actuellement aux USA pour 10 mois. J’ai trouver ce site grace au site internet de ma prof’ de francais a ma “high school”. Effectivement, “a poil” ( desole j’ai pas d’accent ici :p ), est une expression tres utilisee dans la langue francaise, mais plutot entre amis ou avec des gens qu’on connait bien. Ce qui est assez logique car on va pas dire ca a son patron au travail ou a quelqu’un qu’on connait pas…
J’attends d’autres expression et je garde ce site, bon travail ;)

splendid!. this is my first time of coming across this expression. i live it. a poil(pas d’accent) meainig staked naked / nude which is not formal, and au poil to mean great! .

when you are in a concert, you can also start shouting “à poil – à poil” to demonstrate your enthousiasme toward the artist(s)!

It’s another precious French expression. I’ve loved the phrase since the first time I heard someone say, “N’ouvre pas la porte – je suis à poil !” Some things we learn, often become unforgettable, because they come from experiences we always remember: ”tenderly” .
