English translation

I have my first photos of Hyères to share with you today. Actually, they're not pictures of the town of Hyères, but rather the annual flower festival. We were lucky to have perfect weather (it was warm but not too hot) and a spot right next to the road to watch the parade. I've never seen so many flowers in my life!

The full name of Hyères is Hyères-les-palmiers, and in certain pictures you can see why. Unfortunately, a lot of these palm trees are dying of a disease from Argentina, and they're going to have to remove thousands of them. Apparently it's too expensive to replant them, so "Hyères-Palm-Trees" will soon be "Hyères-Without-Many-Palm-Trees." :-(

Bonjour Laura,

Dear Laura,
I’ve been following your ‘voyage’ for some time now and recently realized that I used to work in Hyeres, actually on a little peninsula down south with ’salinas’ and flamingos, I believe: Presque’illes d’Hyeres, in a villiage called Giens with wine, olive, cheese and bread markets and many coves to surf and dive. Also, it’s great for hiking too.
I remember biking in and out, but the bus transportation was great too. Also, you can be in San Tropez in two hours or so…

Enjoy!! Marie

We were in Hyeres last Sunday at the completion of two beautiful weeks in Paris, Digne-les-Bains and Provence. Your lessons during the past several months only added to the beauty of our trip. Suggestion – try La Reine-Jeanne Restaurant on the road between Hyeres and St. Tropez. It is wonderful. Thank you so much for your lessons and instructions. George Grant – Deland, Florida
