Salut pour la dernière fois du Costa Rica ! Nous quitterons ce beau pays dans deux jours. Après un week-end à New York et en Pennsylvanie (où nous fourrerons des vêtements chauds dans nos bagages), nous irons (enfin, enfin !) en France. Hourra ! :-)

Will you have a problem obtaining health care in France? I was there a few weeks ago and the newspapers carried articles about denying health care to non-citizens unless they are over retirement age. Bon voyage! Heather

Je vous souhaite un tres bon voyage, sans ennuis, et un bon emmenagement dans vos nouvelles penates francaises. Excusez mon manque d’accents mais je viens d’acquerir un nouveau “lap-top” et je n’ai pas encore trouve comment faire les accents dessus !
Peut-etre dans une autre lecon vous pourrez nous dire comment on dit lap top en francais et comment faire les accents dessus ! Je ne comprends pas, cela marche sur le pc ordinaire de mon mari !

To write accents you can set your lap top language to French; or you can try English, United States International.
You can Google how to do it also.

Françoise - you can’t use ALT codes to type accents on laptops; you have to change your keyboard layout. Take a look at http://french.about.com/library/bl_faq_accents.htm for options and instructions.
Gabriela - how exciting to be going to France for the first time! I love Paris - there is so much to do. I highly recommend going up to the top of the Eiffel Tower. Some people think it’s too touristy, but it gives you a great view of the city. Whatever you do, don’t be afraid to use your French - Parisians do really appreciate when visitors make the effort to speak French, even if you make some mistakes. Bon voyage !
Bon voyage. I hope your flight is good and your landing better than when we arrived two years ago exactly. We landed in a snow storm and drove home in a blizzard. But no snow since.
We just had a day trip to Paris and despite the rain it was wonderful as usual. Not that we don’t prefer rural France. So much calmer than Sacramento where we came from.

You can use ALT codes on a lap-top, or at least you can on UK bought ones (I don’t imagine american versions would differ that much). It is a bit fiddly but I still find it quicker that inserting symbols from other sources.
On mine, I have to press the “Fn” and “Num Lock” (F11) buttons, and use the numeric letters: M=0, J=1, K=2 etc.It is important to switch off the “Num Lock” afterwards to avoid typing numbers in place of letters.
I have only just discovered this web site and it’s great to see language learning approached from the other side of the pond! Bonjour de L’Angleterre!
